Julia started with me in November 2024, studying AI HL and predicted a 6 at school. Her school was running behind. By March 2025 several topics still had not been taught, and the ones that had been covered were rushed through, even though her class was small.
She had two aims: finish the whole course properly, without leaving anything out and without rushing, and build her understanding deep enough to aim above her prediction. We worked through the remaining content until she was comfortable with all of it, then moved on to mock papers.
I also guided her through the Internal Assessment and gave her feedback on her own work. The topic and the writing were hers, and she was awarded a 7. In the May 2025 exams she finished with a 7 and a total of 80 out of 100. She is now studying medicine in Poland, which is what she had been aiming for.

Holly came to me in February 2026, predicted a 6 at school. In our first evaluation session it was clear her school had rushed the later topics. Statistics and probability in particular were not solid, and her real working level was closer to a 5 than the 6 on her report.
She took a ten week intensive exam preparation program. Between sessions she worked through full past papers, which I marked as complete papers and returned with a grade and a note on what had improved since the last one. Where the same weakness kept appearing, I set targeted IB style questions from my own question bank.
She finished with a 7 in the May 2026 exams.

Cecilia came to me during her first year of AA HL. Before the IB she was near the top of her class, so the change caught her out. AA HL moved faster and asked for more depth, and within a few months she was falling behind and losing confidence.
She came to me to rebuild both. We ran an intensive course over six weeks, three lessons a week, first consolidating the topics her school had already taught and then working through past paper questions until she could handle them under test conditions.
Her next mock came back at 94%, and her scores have stayed at about that level on every test since. She is now in her second year, her school predicts a 7, and she has not yet sat the final IB exams.

The problem was not understanding. It was exam technique. She lost marks on method, notation, and time management. We focused on timed past paper practice with immediate mark scheme analysis. Each session targeted one weak area.
